Recently we’ve seen some additions to the team at NR Events HQ. Luckily enough they also wanted to share their experiences and what it’s been like to work with us so far!
Alice – Events Assistant
Alice began working with us on a freelance basis in October 2022 whilst completing her degree in Music Business at the University of Gloucestershire. She has a huge love for events and started permanently with us whilst rounding off her studies at the beginning of May. Let’s find out how she’s been getting on so far…
“Since starting with NR I have had such an amazing experience, working in new environments as part of a close knit team is really rewarding and I feel very supported by those around me.
I have enjoyed getting stuck in on projects even when they’re out of my comfort zone and have found that they have helped loads with my confidence. Getting involved in all genres of projects has helped me expand my skills and knowledge as well as learn so much in a short space of time.
Working the Cheltenham Science Festival gave me lots of hands on experience into site building and upkeep along with the preparation that goes into the process and just how many people it takes to get a site ready.
Glastonbury was a bucket list experience for me and being able to be part of the staffing was incredible. Being thrown into a job role I had not been in before meant that I had to be adaptable and by the end of the week I felt confident in what I was doing. Working alongside security and other team members with varied backgrounds and experiences was very eye opening.
Working the Wimbledon screen gave me a taste of what its like to work in unpredictable weather at an outside event. There was very heavy rain, lots of wind and some thunder and lightning, which meant that I had to make quick decisions of what to do in terms of safety. When the sun was out however, it was nice to be part of a project that brought together people and businesses in Cheltenham.
I am looking forward to putting my knowledge and experiences into future events within the company.”
Finn – Events Work Experience placement
During one of the final weeks of his Year 12 summer term, Finn came to NR Events with a willingness to learn about all things events. His career aspirations lie in the realms of music production, and knew it was a good idea to get an in depth understanding of all that it takes to bring an event together.
From venue sourcing to video editing, Finn has really got stuck in this week. Let’s hear from the man himself about what he thought about his time with NR…
“During my week at NR Events, I was lucky enough to explore various aspects of event management. I was involved in researching and finding a suitable venue to host a corporate event, finding local bands and circus acts to perform at a festival. However, the highlight of my week so far was being able to visit Peak Hire where I was lucky enough to get hands on experience of the sound production side of event management, which is the area that interests me most.
I also had the opportunity of working closely with a fun and enthusiastic team who made me feel very welcome and have changed my perspective to being more open about office jobs. Although the idea of being in an office from 9-5 doesn’t sound very appealing, the range of fun and unique activities and tasks I was involved in made each day fly by.
After a whole week at NR Events, I can say that I am even more interested in events, whether that’s planning, performing or the production. I can definitely see myself having a career in some area of events and thanks to my time at NR Events I now feel more motivated and experienced in the area.”
It’s always great to work with fresh new faces with enthusiasm and creativity. We’ve really enjoyed having Finn in the office and look forward to continuing to work with Alice as her career develops within our team!
