Recently at NR Events, we have been establishing new relationships, as well as building on existing relationships with new and long term clients to expand our event portfolio. We thrive in working with new people and enjoy being able to deliver high standard events that mean that our loyal clients return for next time. Read on to find out about our new clients and how it is possible to secure work in the events industry…
Refugee Council
About the company:
“The Refugee Council is a leading charity working with refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK. Founded in 1951 following the creation of the UN Refugee Convention, we exist to support and empower people who have fled conflict, violence and persecution in order to rebuild their lives here in the UK.
We work with over 13,000 women, men and children each year who are desperately seeking safety. From the moment refugees arrive in the UK, we are here.”
At the beginning of July, we event managed and produced ‘My View’ by Refugee Council, which presented the charity’s latest programme to help young refugees in terms of providing therapy and counselling sessions. This took place in a luxury London office and was host to great keynote speakers as well as a brilliant choir made up of refugees.
This was a fulfilling event to work on with such a topical message, and a great team to work with too. The Refugee Council trusted us to bring the event to life and make it an engaging evening for all. Some of the responsibilities of NR Events included:
- Delegate management
- Stage management
- Speaker management
- Registration & ticketing
- Venue liaison
- Badge design and printing
- Coordinating the headphone audio exhibit
- & more!
We were really pleased with the outcome of the event and received very positive feedback from Refugee Council too. We hope to work with them again in the near future!
Q Community
About the company:
“We are a community of thousands of people across the UK and Ireland, collaborating to improve the safety and quality of health and care. We share our knowledge and support each other to tackle challenges. Together, we make faster progress to change health and care for the better.”
We have been lucky enough to be appointed as the new events agency for Q Community, which is an organisation delivered by the Health Foundation. NR Events will be the production and management team for Q’s major annual events and slot into their internal events team effortlessly, with the first event taking place on 5th September in London.
We are excited at the prospect of introducing innovative and creative ways for Q’s members to network and collaborate to generate fresh ideas in improving their work and shaping the future of the health sector. There will be a variety of different venues in the UK that play host to these events and we can’t wait to get started.
The events that we will be taking on for Q Community are:
- Q Community (Virtual)
- Q Exchange
- Q Lab Workshops
All with unique features that will come with their own challenges that we are confident we can overcome as a team.
How do you get new work in the events industry?
There is a variety of different ways to secure new work in this industry but it really is true when people say ‘it’s who you know’. Building up a large and trustworthy network of event professionals and clients will really give you the headstart in being recommended for future jobs. Keeping in touch with these people will be valuable and you never know when a connection may come in handy. Volunteering, stepping into someone’s role last minute, and going above expectations will all contribute to a glowing review from others. You can’t go wrong with being confident and proactive to develop your career.
That doesn’t mean to say that you can forget about sending applications and pitching for new clients, as it’s still important to practice these skills regularly. In order to be successful with our Q contract, we had to deliver a pitch and attend online interviews so they could be sure we were right for them and vice versa. This can be nerve wracking, but will demonstrate to your potential client that you can work under pressure and maintain a calm presence.
